Internal data from Lands of America lists nearly $3 billion in land and rural property for sale in the Buckeye State. The combined size of land for sale in Ohio is 121,752 acres. Of Ohio's 88 counties,
Portage County had the most land for sale. There were 2,476 acres of sold land in Ohio recorded in January through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects an increase in sales activity over data from the previous month. Lawrence County recorded the most land sales recently in the state. Some 56 species of mammals, 200 species of breeding birds and 170 species of fish call Ohio home. The state has 74 state parks and over 130 preserves, sections of which are open to hunt and fish. Ohio is also home to a burgeoning wine industry, with over 100 wineries registered in the state producing 800,000 gallons of wine every year, including Ohio's signature Ice Wine. The state has also been ranked among the ten best states for the cost of living by U.S. News & World Report. In terms of size, Ohio is the country's 34th-largest state, covering an area of 44,828 square miles (29 million acres). Of its total landmass, 40,861 square miles of the state is land, while the remaining 3,965 square miles is covered by water. Wildlife to be found on land for sale in Ohio include whitetail deer, turkey, dove, pheasant, mule deer, quail, and grouse. Fishermen have their pick of bass.
